Toy Fair 2014 Spotlight: Melissa and Doug, Mega Bloks and TMNT!

Toy Fair 2014 Spotlight: Melissa and Doug, Mega Bloks, Playmates Toys

Welcome back to Toy Fair Week 2014! I am continuing with my recap of Toy Fair 2014 held in NYC last week. This week we have already covered amazing toys from Hasbro and Mattel. Today we are going to cover new toys coming from Melissa and Doug, MegaBloks and Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles!

last Tuesday I attended a breakfast to show all of Melissa and Doug’s  new toys. I admit, I am a fan of Melissa and Doug because their toys remind me of pure child play. The toys are not complicated at all and they really remind me of the toys my mom used to buy for me except these are a bit more updated. There were truly A LOT of toys on display but here are a couple of my favorites and you will see why:

Snacks and Sweets Food Cart:

Melissa and Doug Food Cart

So many fun things to do with this cart! It comes with ketchup, mustard, popcicles, ice cream sandwiches! The best part? You can switch up the food pieces to make what you want to serve! So cute!

Savory or sweet? This rolling, reversible snack cart offers a choice of menus to sell! With the “Hot Dogs” menu and awning on display, kids can reach inside the slide-top food compartment to serve up a hot dog with toppings to order, a soft pretzel with
mustard or salt, and more. Flip the awning and menu and reverse the storage drawers, and the slide top opens onto cones, scoops, and ice pops for dessert! The sturdy wooden cart comes stocked with over 40 play pieces, so kids can make and serve everything on the double-sided menu board.

Order Up Diner Play Set

I love this role play set! I feel like my kids and I could role play all day long with this one! You know since they are all about food.

Open up an instant play setting! These double-sided play sets feature life-size play scenes built right into the box. Just open the side panels to reveal a student desk on one side and a teacher desk on the other, or a diner booth backed by a griddle and stovetop! In between, dozens of coordinating play props are stored in the sturdy box, including foods to “cook” in the diner and dry-erase tests to take while playing school. Just add imagination for endless fun!

I currently have a huge bag of megabloks in the toy chest from a birthday gift to my youngest. Both my kids fight like crazy over it! They are constantly building so many cars and buildings and whatever else piles on top of each other. It is definitely one of those toys that begs for them to be creative! Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles

As you guys may or may not remember my kids are crazy obsessed with the turtles. I admit, when I was a kid I was too!! Here are some of my favorite TMNT toys upcoming!

Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles Blimp

• The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Blimp inflates to about 30 inches long, features Turtle gliding wings, authentic Turtle graphics, holds up to 5 Turtles action figures and includes a rappelling system to quickly drop the Turtles into battle!

 • The Blimp’s easy grip handle helps kids to maneuver the battle between the Turtles  and Shredder and the Foot Clan.

  2. Love the M&D diner set. My kids would absolutely love that but I’m afraid they would lose all the pieces in like one day!!
Ninja Turtles blimp? OMG, the boys would just die for that! I’ll have to keep me eye out – they do have a birthday coming up.
I’ve loved these reports! So much fun!!

    • I agree with the pieces. I think I would have to pay careful attention to inventory in that case. The blimp is INCREDIBLE. so cool!

  3. That first one, the cart I think my kids would love. My brother is the stock manager at the local AC Moore and they sell a ton of Melissa and Doug toys. So going to have to ask him to keep his eyes open for this one. Thanks for sharing Nellie!! :)

  4. Such a fun post! Love the engaging pictures, Nellie. My girls would go nuts over the food cart and the diner set. They love pretend cooking and serving. And my boys are huge ninja turtle fans. Adding these to my wish list.

  6. I am definitely picking up the Thomas Mega Bloks table. JJ has their red one that is school themed but he’s really grown to love Thomas and this will be perfect for his birthday.

  7. I can’t believe TMNT is still going strong. I LOVED them. Spent all my money to win a Donatello at a carnival and the lady running it felt badly for me and let me cheat.
And Dora is on right now in my house! (Cassidy is away and I needed sanity..)
Melissa and Doug is a New England company and they are just the best. You can find a gift for any age of their stuff. Good sales too.
