My fitness week started off really well with a very hard workout from my trainer which included a million box jumps, lots of Medicine ball slams and a very tough exercise that I have never tried before:

I pushed 135lbs on that thing back and forth maybe 25 feet. Everything burned! My lungs, my quads, my heart rate was crazy. I mean wow! Tuesday I took spin and then later on that night a virus hit me like a mac truck. It was very similar to the stomach bug I had last year except this one was a big more rough. It did leave my body with 24 hours but it also left me incredibly dehydrated and weak. Needless to say I am saving my next workout until tomorrow when I teach class.

The past couple of weeks have been really good. I’ve been super consistent with my calorie counting  and staying within my range. I know I need to do better with taking my food to work but in the meantime I am finding low calorie decent meals that work and taste yummy! For example: the Baja Ensalada from Baja Fresh. Only 450 calories and very good!

I do have to decline the side of chips that come with it though. Although it’s my favorite, it’s not really worth the additional 210 calories.

Even though it’s crazy cold outside and we all have on our big winter coats I have been in the mindset that the coats will be coming off in just a few short months. I am using this winter as a time of preparation! Usually when temps start to climb, that’s when people what to get their bikini bodies. I’m using right now, the middle of January, and focusing all my energy and efforts into June when I will be doing loads of traveling. I want to be in the best shape possible! So now is the time to put in WORK!

So last week I lost 1.1 pounds, yesterday the scale said something crazy like I lost 4-5 pounds, now I am not counting this as a loss until my body gets fully hydrated again, only then I can figure out what the real number is. After 2 days of not eating and high depletion I wasn’t surprised to see such a low number on the scale, it would only set myself up for failure if I didn’t take my dehydration into account. I am 4.9 (Not including this week’s weigh in) pounds away from first goal.

  1. Love the sled!! Isn’t it amazing how it can get to every muscle in your body? Such a great challenge.
    Sorry you were sick (you know I was too!) but glad it was quick and over with. I can’t believe you’re only 4.9 pounds away from your first goal!! We will be celebrating that in no time.

  3. Ugh, the dreaded bug. Although I’ve heard from many people that you do initially lose five pounds from it, so your scale reflected that! I have not remained germ-free. I have a terrible cold, but luckily no one else in my family got it.

  6. Wow, Nellie. I’m glad that virus left in 24 hours. That sounds like it was rough. Good for you for sticking to your diet and getting in that awesome workout with your trainer. Which reminds me, I forgot to read the post where you wrote your thoughts on your trainer! Gotta read that. ;) This week, I found my husband really loves my salads with my homemade dressings. I switch it up and he raves about them a lot. I’m glad we found something else he enjoys to eat that is healthy.

  7. Glad your bug only lasted 24 hours. So far my body has been putting up great germ defenses, but I have a toddler in daycare so that could all change! That weight sled looks serious! 135lbs, 25ft?! You are a boss!
    I’ve sucked at tracking calories this week,but I’ve been trying to be mindful of what I’m eating and how much. I’ll see how that has worked out for me when I weigh-in Monday. Last week I was down 1lb. and 1/2in. I have managed a Bodypump class and my first Barre Fit class so far this week and I’m going work in a run this weekend.

  9. Ugh, I am so sorry you got sick this week! I know how you feel like. Get hydrated back and take it from there! That salad looks super yummy though! It look like something I need right now. I’m going to embark on a food experiment with my family, so we’ll see how that works later on.

  12. When you’re sick, you gotta rest. Cant feel bad about that. As for me….I stunk it up this week. LOL I going to try to make up for it this weekend. I would love to push a sled. I dream of cross fit training actually.

  13. So sorry to hear that you’ve been so sick! On the bright side, all those exercises Monday sound like they were intense, but will reap great rewards. The salad from Baja Fresh looks so good right now. I’ve been having a difficult time taking my lunch to work lately also…mostly because I’ve had some dental work done lately that makes me nervous to eat salads for another week or so. Keep up the great attitude…you’re getting there!

  15. I love love love Baja Fresh and it kills me that there are only 2 in Atlanta and neither are anywhere near me.
    I’m pressing the restart button. This last month was a total fail, but I’ve got my fitbit, I’ve got a elliptical on the way in the mail and I’m going to start back using myfitness pal. Because when I track what I eat, I feel more accountable. Sigh. Cause summer is coming and I REFUSE to be covered up!

It’s nice to see the numbers that go along with such a bug, but you’re right, it’s best to wait until you’re back to “normal” health. Congrats on a good week for your weight loss despite the setbacks! Wishing you continued success for this week, and that you’re feeling 100% soon!!

  17. Tummy bugs are the worst, good to hear you’re feeling better. That sled looks wicked-hard. I always wonder what aliens would think if they saw us using workout equipment … they would probably think we were crazy for pushing something back and forth like that :)
