A Progress Report & New Goals

One of the main reasons for this blog is to really keep me accountable with my weight loss journey. I blog about the food that I love, food that I hate, but most of all I love to blog about my favorite thing to do which is GO to the gym, or really just workout in general.

When I workout, I get ME time. I always get asked HOW can you do this with 2 small children, a full time job, a side hustle and more–the answer is SO simple…I workout for me. I don’t go to the gym because its the “thing” to do, I don’t go because its mandatory (although some may argue that it is), I go because I feel STRONG, I have a love affair with endorphins. I don’t drink coffee, or drink alcohol or take recreational drugs…I workout. Its what I do, and what I love. I blog about it because it is FUN for me to lift, to run, to spin. It’s the one thing that I do for myself and it just happens to have the benefits of making my body look better. Win/Win.

Since I renewed my quest to say bye bye to the baby weight by joining weight watchers last September, I have lost approximately 9.1 pounds. Not where I want to be, but I will take it.

Over the past few months though, I have seen a lot of change in my body, the scale is moving unbearably slow, but the change in my body has become a lot more evident.

All of a sudden, I can see my old body coming back to me! I really think adding the total body class to my weekly routine has helped significantly. Maybe it was the shake-up my body needed in order to get jump started again. The plateau of recent weeks will be over soon! (Do you hear ME?! Over!)

My goal, really, is to lose at least another 10 by Fitbloggin‘ 13 in Portland.  That gives me 5 months to lose 10 pounds (or more!) I think I can manage that. Besides, I am going to be roomies with this girl and she is doing fantastic on her weightloss journey so I gotta keep up!

The great part is that I know that even if the scale isn’t moving, I can continue to get lean and have the scale catch up eventually. :)

Do you do before and after pictures in your fitness journey? Do you see a difference even when the scale doesn’t move?

  1. You look great! I’ve taken before pictures… I have no after because I have consistency issues! My entire goal is 10lbs, but the food just keep calling me:) I’m incorporating exerciser into my Lenten promises this year. I figure if I can’t lose some weight in 40 days, there’s a problem.

    • LOL at the food keeps calling you! That’s a really good idea. 40 days is a great time period to focus on the overall goal. Those last ten are so freaking annoying!

  2. You look great. I have no true before picture, the pictures that I have aren’t our kids. I know that I am in better shape today then I was five years ago.

    • Thanks Kalley, Its a great motivator, especially when you take the pictures in the same clothes to see the difference.

  3. Get it! You got this.
I’ve taken/before after pics in the past but not for my most recent (failed) attempt at losing 15 pounds. I also took my body measurements every 6 months for a year and a half. . .actually I was supposed to take new measurements at the beginning of this month. :-/

    • Thanks girl!! You should still take measurements, I was supposed to do this every month and oops somehow a whole 2.5 months went by!

  4. I have never done the picture thing (only the scale) but I can see how it would be SO motivational. I think this would be really helpful because you can definitely see the wonderful progress you’re making no matter how quickly or slowly the scale moves.

  8. You look incredible! I can totally see the differences!! :)

I’m like you. I love to workout, to go the gym. It’s my eating that is questionable.

I sometimes see it in pictures that I appear smaller but when the scale isn’t moving it gets to me. Damn scale!

    • I know that all too well. Sometimes I see the scale not move and im like “stop LYING” lol but it sure helps to look at the before and afters to actually see the difference.

  9. You’re doing great! I’m so proud of you for making it happen! Working out is so important for so many reasons. Good for you for making the commitment to make it a priority.

  10. You look awesome and definitely leaner. I am with you, I despise the scale. Sometimes I feel great but then the scale doesn’t agree with me. Oh well, it will catch up eventually just keep doing what you are doing and definitely continue to keep track of your progress.

It’s definitely important to work out for you. That’s what I’m doing now, it’s my “me” time when I can just focus on myself. And I’m with you! I love feeling strong… and love those endorphins!
